Canon CR 180ii Check Scanners
Canon CR180ii Check Scanner
The Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II is a high-speed desktop check transport designed to be an integral part of today’s electronic check presentment and payment processing. Exceptional feeding reliability, image quality, and production performance and capability all make the CR-180II check transport ideal for distributed capture and image exchange applications, such as branch capture and remittance processing.

Speed And Reliability

One of the fastest desktop devices available, the CR-180II model features duplex scanning speeds of up to 180 checks per minute.* It also simultaneously reads Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) codeline data, in E13B or CMC-7, with high accuracy using Canon’s patented high- precision magnetic head. Built for high-volume environ- ments, the CR-180II check transport can handle checks of all types and sizes with a suggested daily volume of up to 20,000 pieces.

Canon’s extensive microfilm reader and document scanner expertise help deliver efficient job completion and smooth, reliable feeding and problem-free operation. The CR-180II check transport’s high-capacity, 200-document auto feeder includes a built-in jogger that helps to align batches of documents in the feeder tray, significantly decreasing total document preparation time. The CR-180II can also handle a wide variety of document types in addition to checks— including payment and deposit slips or carrier envelopes—
reliably and efficiently. The Deskew function and Canon’s exclusive image processing technology help ensure accu- rate image and data capture every time, while the Infrared Double-Feed Detection enhances feeding reliability and simplifies handling of document batches with mixed dimensions and thicknesses.

Image Quality

The CR-180II check transport captures high-quality images. It’s bundled with Silver Bullet Image Quality Analysis (IQA) software. The IQA module automatically verifies that check image quality is in accordance with the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21) requirements, avoiding costly processing delays resulting from non-conforming images. In addition, the CR-180II check transport includes a Color Dropout function to remove color elements for improved text recognition and OCR, supporting E13B, OCR-A, and OCR-B characters.

Convenience

The CR-180II check transport’s U-shaped paper path, built-in prescan imprinter, and two output pockets offer maximum productivity in a small footprint. The imprinter comes standard to allow the printing of endorsement information on checks prior to scanning. The two output pockets add capacity to sort checks based on the MICR information into two 200-check stacks. The CR-180II scanner’s clamshell design with side opening provides full access to the entire paper path, making it easy to change the imprinter ink cartridge or perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.

The bundled Silver Bullet Ranger driver helps ensure compatibility with virtually any check processing software application. Also included are ISIS and TWAIN drivers, as well as Canon’s Scanning Utility for the CR-180II check transport. This scanning utility software enables users to scan, view, print, and file check data while allowing MICR data to be used as the file name or in log files for cross- reference. Simple connectivity is provided with dual SCSI-III and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interfaces, giving the user a choice of either popular industry-standard.

Real-World Check Processing

Bringing check imaging closer to the point of presentment allows financial institutions and commercial customers to achieve considerable return on investment, reduce operational costs and, most of all, stay competitive. Electronic check conversion virtually eliminates the inefficiency of handling physical checks at branch locations and transportation to centralized processing centers.

* Examples based on typical settings, rated in checks/images per minute with U.S. personal checks at 200 dpi in black and white or grayscale.

Converting paper checks into electronic transactions at the earliest stage of payment processing drastically reduces uncollected float, the dollar amount of checks outstanding in the process of being collected by banks.

Canon developed the imageFORMULA CR-180II check transport to meet these real-world needs. High speeds, exceptional reliability, and state-of-the-art technology make this check transport the ideal product for high-volume back-counter/branch capture environments and remittance processing/lockbox applications.
